Rigoni signs on for NBL25 season

Adelaide 36ers are pleased to announce the signing of South Australian swingman Jacob Rigoni on a two-year deal.

Rigoni, who spent the NBL24 season as the club’s injury replacement player, adds to the local flavour of the main roster.

The 198cm forward, who impressed throughout NBL24 featuring in two games and scoring his first points against South East Melbourne, said he’s thrilled to take the next step in his career.

“I’m just super grateful for the opportunity and for the club in believing in me,” Rigoni said.

“This is just a dream come true for me.”

Rigoni, who is locked away for the NBL25 season, has a team option on the second year of his deal.

Head coach Scott Ninnis said to have Rigoni locked in is a great signing for the club as the forward brings toughness, intelligence and scoring ability.

“Jacob has been an outstanding player through the Sturt junior program and through the South Australian state teams,” Ninnis said.

“He has taken his talents to college and professional stints in Europe, so it’s fantastic for another South Australian to be on the 36ers roster.”

The 25-year-old, who spent five seasons at Quinnipiac Bobcats in the NCAA before playing one season at Dusseldorf on the German Pro A league, is currently leading the Sabres as one of the top contenders for the 2024 NBL1 Central crown.

GM of Basketball Operations Matt Weston said Rigoni brings all the values required to be a 36er and is excited to see another South Australian get the opportunity to shine on the national stage.

“Jacob has really put in the effort to make it to the next level, and we are excited to give him the chance to show his skillset in the NBL,” Weston said.

Rigoni now joins DJ Vasiljevic, Isaac Humphries, Nick Marshall, Jason Cadee, Sunday Dech, Alex Starling and Lat Mayen as contracted players for the NBL25 season.
